I've finally bit the bullet, mounted the sheep or as we say round these parts decided it was time to pull my finger out and start a blog. It's become clear to me recently that if you want to achieve anything you really do have to start something, anything but the key really is to actually make something happen, have a plan and it really doesn't matter if its a terrible one. So with this in mind I decided to start my blog, it isn't dedicated to any lofty goals, trying to change the world or focusing on any one specific genre or cultural personal addiction [insert current 'must-see' TV / Music / Fad here...].
It's about writing, daily something...anything - but writing, getting the habit.
Like millions of others I want to create something, to unleash my creative juices on the planet to let others bask in my glorious intellect and clever story ideas. But the harsh reality is I have no idea how to move from ideas to a cohesive story and how do I want to tell the story: Novel, Screenplay, Illustrated Children's book, Graphic Novel, Comic, Short story. Now although there are a lot of people with a whole lot of opinions and insight out there the truth is they are just deeper into the rabbit hole than me with very few of them actually finished anything or even self published. I don't mean that to sound arrogant or dismissive of their insight but I believe they have just read more how-to articles than me and like touching fire... you really have to get burnt yourself to learn, least that's what we pyromaniacs say.
Now the first post is done I feel quite elated and its clear to everyone exactly what my blog will be about, what's that? No! well you are clearly going to have to spend more time with Madame RimTickler the psychic as you should really have got it by now. The blog may occasionally contain something worth reading and if it does great news, but the key function is to get me writing daily on a medium that I love - the Internet.
I cannot pretend that I will give much thought to what appears here, it may be dark rambling or amusing events but I hope it will lead me into the right habits and eventually my dark tale of immortalities will be wrung from my shallow head.
This is going to end badly...
